Landscape paintings – Jenny Charlotta Wood
Artist’s statement
When I see a landscape that captures me it is the colours rather than the shapes that I notice. When I paint I share how I see the landscapes, through my memory of colours and emotions playing together.
Having spent half of my life in Sweden near the coast and the other half in Britain, more recently living in Scotland, I am strongly influenced by the colours and shapes of a northern landscape. The ever-changing scenery over the course of the four seasons never ceases to amaze me and I try to recreate how I see the beauty of nature. Even in bad weather and dramatic landscapes I find calmness and harmony in the colours.
I work in an impressionist style to capture the Nordic light, and I have been inspired by Scandinavian landscape painters and especially those around the turn of the century.
I create using mixed media, however I predominantly finish the paintings using oil as it brings out the deepness of the colours as I see them.
About Me
I was born and raised in Sweden on the west coast near the sea. In 1999 I moved to England to study Product Design and after university I continued living near London for several years where I was working as an online marketing manager.
I decided to move to the South West of Scotland, as being a countryside girl at heart that’s where I wanted to raise my children, and this is where we have now spent the past decade.
I hope you enjoy my work.
